8:00 – 8:30 am: Arrival and Registration
8:30 – 10:00 am: "Alcohol and Other Drugs: Barriers to Student Success" with Tara Phillips
Workshop Description: This workshop will discuss current drugs of abuse as well as specific youth drug trends. Drug categories will be described along with signs and symptoms associated with them. Paraphernalia will be shown both in person and through photos to help participants better identify how students are bringing drugs into school districts. Participants will be able understand the impact of social media and its influence on the culture of drug and alcohol abuse. This workshop will help to provide clarification of treatment law and how that intertwines with educational law as well as treatment options that are available.

10:15 – 11:45 am: "It's a Different World- Teen Technology, Social Media and Mental Health" with Ryan Klingensmith
Workshop Description: This training defines social networking that educators should be aware of and listening for with student’s. The presentation will review social media behaviors related to:, drug and alcohol, eating disorders, self-harm and suicide. The most current social media sites such as Instagram, Tumblr, Kik, Snapchat and After School will be defined and youth culture and mental health practices on these sites/apps will be discussed. This presentation will raise the awareness of youth culture on the internet and how adults can communicate and educate with youth to be responsible digital citizens

12:30 – 2:00 pm: "Legal Update on Issues Impacting SAP Teams" with Erin Gilsbach
Workshop Description: This session will focus on current legal trends that will assist SAP Teams as they work with their students and parents.

2:15 – 3:45 pm: "Introduction to the Suicide Prevention Online Learning Center" with Perri Rosen
Workshop Description: This interactive presentation will overview the Pennsylvania "Suicide Prevention in Schools and Colleges Initiative," before reviewing training and awareness resources available through the project. Participants will be introduced to the Suicide Prevention Online Learning Center, a new training resource developed to support educators, mental health professionals, and community members with increasing their knowledge and skills pertaining to youth suicide prevention. Additional resources available through the website, including facilitator guides, will be previewed.

Continuing Education Credits
PASAP is an Act 48 Approved Provider. Participants can earn up to 6 hours of Act 48 credit (full workshop attendance). Morning Session only: 3 hours. Afternoon session only: 3 hours. Participants must provide their Professional Personnel ID (PPID) number when registering and must be present at each session in its entirety to receive credit. Additionally, 6 hours of social work credits will be offered through the University of Pittsburgh. A $10 fee for the social work credits will be added at the time of registration.
